Farmendon

Lovely character house with wonderfully private garden and magnificent views

Farmendon is a splendid, well-proportioned house which sits in the heart of Gunnerside, yet is a peaceful haven from the bustle of the village. Charmingly decorated, the house is recently refurbished and deceptively spacious. The large, south-facing rear garden, backing on to the Methodist Chapel, has a suntrap patio and stunning views of the hills, whilst remaining extremely private and comfortable. Whether you are here to ramble over the nearby hills, or to relax in the peace of the Dales, Farmendon is the perfect home to come to for a marvellous Yorkshire holiday!  Up to two well-behaved dogs welcome!

Sorry, no smoking.

See a Virtual Tour of Farmendon.

Farmendon week bookings run from Saturday to Saturday. A  2 person discount of 10% is available on week bookings (sorry, not during peak periods). Mention when enquiring.

Lovely character house with wonderfully private garden and magnificent views

Gunnerside is a lovely old lead-mining village, where clusters of old cottages lead off to the surrounding ghylls and hills. Ideal for walkers, there are many gentle rambles and more strenuous hikes direct from the village, or take the bus to Keld and stroll back down the dale. Good food is available from the tearoom (bistro open Wednesday and Saturday evenings, booking required) and the local pub. The nearest shops are at Muker, 2 miles updale (restricted opening in off-season) and Reeth, 6 miles. There is also a good little market (Friday), post office, garage, tearooms, cafe/bistro and craft and gift shops at Reeth. Larger towns nearby are Hawes, 11 miles (market Tuesday), Richmond, 18 miles (market Saturday), Leyburn, 15 miles (Friday market) and Barnard Castle, 16 miles. There are supermarkets in Hawes, Leyburn and Richmond, with a large 24hr supermarket at Catterick Garrison, 17 miles, which also delivers.  Bike hire at Fremington, 7 miles. Orange (only) mobile reception in Gunnerside area (patchy).
