Set opposite the bubbling beck, which flows into the River Swale, this lovely cottage is recently renovated to make it a charming, cosy place to which to retreat after a day’s energetic walking in the gorgeous countryside around Gunnerside. With open stonework, exposed roof trusses and beautiful reclaimed pine floorboards, you can breakfast with the morning sun pouring into the unexpectedly spacious upstairs living/dining room, or relax outside on long summer evenings in the small front garden, watching the swallows wheeling above.

Exquisite one-bedroom cottage

Gunnerside is a charming tiny village, with a friendly pub, and a café / bistro, both serving good food (bistro open Wednesday/Saturday evenings, book in advance). Surrounded by spectacular views of hills and pastures, the village is a cluster of old lead-mining cottages and Dales homes. Many wonderful walks right from the door, with local shops, post office and market at Reeth, 6 miles. Wide variety of pubs, tearooms and restaurants within the dale. Larger shops within 20 miles at Richmond, Leyburn, Hawes and Catterick Garrison (24 hour supermarket, which also delivers). Recycling facilities available at Reeth and Muker. Bike hire at Fremington, 7 miles. Orange (only) mobile (patchy) reception around Gunnerside.
