NEW! With a beautiful large south-facing garden, Devon Cottage is a charming cottage in Gunnerside for your perfect Swaledale holiday. Two roomy bedrooms give great views over the garden and hills, while the open fire in the living room means you'll have a cosy atmosphere on cool evenings. Pet friendly and with off-road parking, Devon Cottage has a wealth of amenities, so you'll have all the comforts of home in the wonderful surroundings of "beautiful Swaledale" (so beautiful they wrote a song about it!). Currently undergoing refurbishment, Devon Cottage will be available for holidays from Easter 2010.

Attractive two-bedroom cottage with masses of character and charm

Gunnerside is a lovely old lead-mining village, where clusters of old cottages lead off to the surrounding ghylls and hills. Ideal for walkers, there are many gentle rambles and more strenuous hikes direct from the village, or take the bus to Keld and stroll back down the dale. Good food is available from the cafe (bistro open Wednesday and Saturday evenings, booking required) and the local pub, both in Gunnerside. Various pubs, tearooms, gift, craft and local shops and organic farm nearby in Muker, Low Row and Reeth. There is also a good little market (Friday), post office and garage at Reeth (6 miles). Larger towns nearby (with supermarkets) are Hawes, 11 miles, Richmond, 18 miles, Leyburn, 15 miles, and Barnard Castle, 16 miles and a large 24hr supermarket at Catterick Garrison, 17 miles, which also delivers. Bike hire at Fremington, 7 miles. Orange (only) mobile reception in Gunnerside area (patchy). Give us a ring for more local information.
