Treasured by its owners and family, Moorlands is a 250 year old Grade II listed sunny and spacious home set in the tiny hamlet of Blades, a habitat of lapwings, curlews and red grouse. With magnificent views over upper Swaledale, Moorlands nestles in a sheltered hollow on open moor grazed by Swaledale sheep and cattle, yet is only half a mile above Low Row. With many Dales cottage features, including a wonderful farmhouse kitchen, stone fireplaces and shelves, and beamed and boarded ceilings, this splendid house is full of character and atmosphere. Recently refurbished to a high standard, quality new furnishings sit comfortably alongside beautiful antiques, including superb half-tester and antique brass beds in the two double bedrooms. With large window seats in which to relax and admire the scenery, Moorlands is warm, welcoming and a delight to return to after a day exploring the surrounding hills!

Full bottled gas central heating with additional heating from woodburners in sitting room and kitchen. Open fire in TV room (fireguards provided). All fuel and power included in rent.

Separate TV room with open coal fire, TV, Freeview, video/dvd players, many children's books, toys and games.

Fitted kitchen with standard features, larder fridge, microwave, dishwasher, electric mixer and drying rack above woodburner .

Dairy with washing machine, tumble dryer, spare fridge/freezer, small separate freezer, iron/ironing board and utility sink.

TV, Freeview, video/DVD players, CD player/radio.

Telephone / dial up internet access available - honesty box.

Bed linen and teatowels included in the rent (sorry, personal towels not included).

Highchair, cot, paddling pool, sandpit, child’s bike, trike and scooter available (and many children’s games and toys), and adult mountain bike.

Parking for up to three cars.

South-facing garden with garden furniture (flagged/lawn).

Lockable storage in stable for bikes and hiking equipment (coal kept here).

Please note, drainage at Moorlands is to a septic tank.

Week bookings run from Saturday to Saturday - short breaks are not available at Moorlands.

The road to Moorlands is via a narrow, steep lane, which becomes unmade track 200m from the cottage, but is perfectly accessible in a normal family car.

If required, Cat Hole Cottages can provide a towel hire service. Please enquire when booking.

Low Row is situated about four miles updale from Reeth, where an organic bakery, local shops, post office, pubs, cafe/bistro, garage, Friday market and National Park Centre can be found. In Low Row the Punch Bowl Inn is a gastro pub serving good food, ales and wines. A range of tearooms, restaurants, pubs, galleries, museums and craft shops are sprinkled throughout the dale. Larger shops are located in Leyburn, Barnard Castle, Richmond and Catterick Garrison, all within 30 mins. drive. Orange mobile reception in Gunnerside area (patchy).
