The Tour de France comes to Swaledale
In July 2014, the Tour de France route arrives in upper Swaledale from Wensleydale over the panoramic Buttertubs Pass (which Jeremy Clarkson dubs "England's most spectacular road"), near Thwaite. From there, the cyclists will ride down the dale, right through Muker, Gunnerside, Low Row, Healaugh, Reeth and Fremington, before branching off over the moors at Grinton towards Leyburn. So either come and watch the riders in 2014, or come and explore this fantastic cycling scenery in advance!
